We regretfully must ask for your patience for  another year; as we must gather the financial resources needed for the Essay Award that has been so dear to us for 17 years.

We looked forward to these honest and courageous essays as we received them each year.

They have been a unique expression of young people, who are too old and too wise for their tender years.

This wisdom is hard earned by survivors of a grave illness, that teaches things that there is no other way to learn.

It has been our honor to reward these unique writings, and our hope is still to publish them as a book, that will serve as a roadmap for generations ahead.
